Making your default text editor Text Wrangler is pretty simple, but admittedly some never get around to doing it. There is an option when you right click on a .css file for example to open with TextWrangler, and then you can even select “Apply to All” but that doesn’t really work when you connect to another FTP and download another .css file.
I like being abe to just double click a file and have it open in the editor of my choice. It’s good to streamline your workflow as much as possible.
Changing the Default Text Editor
1. Single Click the file you want to open (any file as long it’s the type you want to set as default)
2. Then at the top bar click File and then Get Info (Command+I also works)
3. Click the triangle next to Open with
4. Select TextWrangler
5. Then Click Change All…
That’s all there is to it. You’ll have to do the same thing for .php files as you did for .css, and you’ll likely have to repeat for any other different file type.
